Ski Trails

I don't really care for Christmas albums. They irritate me mostly. So when I find one I like it's amazing. I think the exceptions are June Christy's album, Brenda Lee, and this. Jo Stafford has a lovely relaxing voice in this. I really like her version of Moonlight in Vermont.

Life is a Stream Chuck and Mary Perrin

Lovely brother and sister 70's duo that were an inspiration to Karen Carpenter. Rev-ola did right by releasing this. It's catchy folkie stuff. Bye Bye Billy and the country like Pickin' up the Pieces are my favorites. I play this in my car regularly. It's good car music. I also like Mary's solo on Dedication. She had one beautiful voice. Mildred Metz a bonus is also good.

Melba Montgomery Don't Keep me Lonely Too Long

First of all it has a wonderful title track. Half the songs are written by her brother Earl and herself. The album cover even suggests something different as she's not wearing a gingham dress but pants. I liked The Day your memory came to town and the upbeat Great Big Hurtin' Heart. This is a solid country album. I wish that Melba Montgomery was more on cd. Like Norma Jean, she's a neglected country singer from the past worth another look.

Heaven help the Working Girl Norma Jean

I recommend another record from this fine overlooked country girl who really should have more cd releases. I like the title song about the struggles of a working girl. I also like her covers of A Little Bitty Tear and Pick me up on your way down. A solid country record.
